Holiday Weekend

We had a nice quiet Thanksgiving here at our house. We figured it might be a while before we get some quiet time for just the two of us, so we stayed home and had a nice little celebration. Amy made an incredible turkey that involved soaking it overnight, and I helped by chopping various things into small pieces (I can handle that). We had a lot of great food, and best of all we have tons of leftovers since there were only two of us.

We also figured we had better get a jump on getting a Christmas tree and putting up the decorations, since at this point we're basically waiting for the baby to decide when to make her appearance. It's doubtful we'd have the time to put up a tree and everything after she arrives. So on Saturday we went to Butler's Orchard (our favorite place for local food and farm stuff), and picked out a tree to cut down and bring home. Once again Amy gets most of the credit for picking a good-looking tree and for putting up the decorations in the house, which you'll see in the pictures below. When it comes to decorating I'm mostly good for the manual labor part of it.

We received an early gift from Santa, with instructions to open it when we started decorating for Christmas. So we opened our gift and were pleased to find the second half of the nativity scene that we received last year (Willow Tree--Amy really wanted that one--thanks Mom and Jim!)

For those of you who are eager to see how the pregnancy is progressing, there are plenty of pictures of Amy in here, starting with some from a few weeks ago:

Hi, You are ambitious to go and cut a tree. We never did that, always bought one and took it home and put in holder. Always liked the smell a lot. Mom wanted a smaller reusable one, so we got one at Sears the other night, about 4' tall. The white lights are already on it, but Mom will fancy it up more. Glad you had a nice peaceful Thanksgiving and lots of food. We had dinner with another couple and their daughter, and shared most food so we had plenty left. Dad.

thanks for sharing all the pics--i like the one of amy from a distance in the tree field where her coat is zipped around her belly--gotta love the 9months prego look!

i had a dream last night that your daughter was born and that nobody knew amy had even begun labor until you posted pictures of the baby at a few days old on your blog. her name was "judith" and you had pictures of her all over your sidebar. i am the crazy aunt, i know . . .

Nice baby belly Amy. I wish I could call to see how things are progressing, but my phones been broken for a few weeks, I lost everything and I feel so out of the loop. On that note, Aaron you better post pics as soon as the little one comes! And how everything went too. Can't wait to see you three around Chrismas!
